Saint Patricks High School Downpatrick has taken a comprehensive approach to suicide skills training. At end of August sixty teachers were trained in the suicide alertness programme safeTalk.A further thirty staff including classroom assistants and support staff will be trained in safeTALK in October.
Earlier in the year all the pastoral care/year heads were trained in the 2-day ASIST programme.
Suicide Down to Zero were delighted to deliver this training to St Patricks and commend Mrs Kathleen McLoughlin for her vision in adopting this whole school approach to suicide prevention skills training.
